Start with the product
A useful insert holds the product in the intended position and makes it easy to remove. You need the actual dimensions of every item and the usable space inside the box. Drawing a hole that looks like the product is not enough.
Shaped foam
Consider foam when delicate products, kits or components need a soft seat. Check pocket depth, the material around each pocket and the separation between products together. The insert cannot exceed the usable space inside the box.
Shaped cardboard
Cardboard creates seats through cutting and folding. Consider it for a paper-based presentation with neatly arranged products. The shape of the seat and the wall height depend on the contents; check the dimensions on the technical drawing.
Review the complete set
Finish configuring the box, then add the optional insert. View the box and insert together in 3D and check the dimensions. The project is checked before production.
